Position Title
Director, Enterprise Business Systems
LocationHanover, NH (Hybrid role)
OverviewProvides leadership and direction to a team of software engineers responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of Dartmouth's Oracle E-Business Suite platform and the portfolio of third-party applications integrated within that environment. Serves as the primary technical advisor for the Oracle EBS ecosystem and plays a central planning and advisory role in the institution's transition to a next-generation Finance and HR system.
KeyAccountabilities
- Strategic Leadership and Direction – Partners with the AVP and ESG leadership to define and advance the strategic direction for Oracle EBS and integrated third-party business systems, collaborates with institutional stakeholders, leads the adoption of best practices, and contributes to ESG-wide strategic planning.
- Project and Process Management – Leads business process review activities, coordinates project planning, develops technical cost and schedule estimates, manages implementation of upgrades, patches, enhancements, oversees integration design, applies change management, and contributes to future system implementation planning.
- Technical Expertise and Vendor Management – Serves as primary subject matter expert, develops technical roadmap, establishes strong relationships with vendors, manages procurement activities, oversees risk management, and coordinates with infrastructure for software deployment.
- Collaboration and Relationship Management – Builds relationships with Finance, HR, Procurement, and other departments, translates complex system capabilities to stakeholders, documents usage procedures, supports training, communicates system changes, and participates in cross-functional initiatives.
- Professional Development and Team Building – Mentors and develops team members, ensures proficiency in relevant tools, fosters a culture of continuous learning, encourages participation in professional development opportunities, and promotes a welcoming environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least six years of experience in a technologist or systems analyst role within complex organizations, focused on enterprise business systems or ERP platforms.
- Minimum two to three years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience in an IT or systems environment.
- Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite or comparable ERP platforms, with knowledge of Finance, Human Resources, or Procurement functional areas.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Experience in business process analysis and review, translating operational requirements into technical solutions.
- Understanding of application integration techniques and third-party vendor management practices.
- Familiarity with change management principles and their application to technology-driven organizational transitions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, effective with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace and through technology initiatives.
- Demonstrated readiness to grow into increasing levels of leadership responsibility in a collaborative, mentor-supported environment.
- Experience in higher education IT or similarly complex, mission-driven institutional environments.
- Familiarity with Oracle Cloud, Workday, or other next-generation Finance and HR platforms.
- Experience supporting or leading an ERP implementation, upgrade, or major migration project.
- Knowledge of data integration tools, middleware platforms, or API management in an ERP context.
- Financial acumen in budgeting and resource planning within an IT department.
