Schedule:
Full Time, 12 months, 40 hrs/week. Shifts include:
- Tuesday‑Friday 8:00 am‑4:30 pm
- Saturday 6:00 am‑2:30 pm
- Sunday 6:00 am‑2:30 pm
- Monday‑Thursday 8:00 am‑4:30 pm
- Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑4:30 pm
Location:
Hanover, NH – New Hampshire Hall. Remote work not available;
Onsite only.
Under supervision from the Residential Operations Custodial Supervisor, the custodian performs cleaning and unskilled building maintenance tasks inside and outside the College’s student residential facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining cleaning and bathroom supply inventories, reporting machine and furniture repair needs, implementing recycling procedures, and communicating effectively with students regarding Residential Operations policies.
Key Accountabilities- Daily:
Clean and mop common area floors, stairways, restrooms, kitchens, snack‑prep areas, laundry rooms, study rooms, and lounges; vacuum carpeted hallways; wash windows; complete damage reports. - Daily/Weekly:
Implement FO&M recycling procedures; remove trash inside and around building perimeters. - Weekly:
Apply finishes to common area floors and stairways; clean private bathrooms; complete furniture inventory forms. - Semiannual:
Wash windows in student rooms. - Annual:
Remove and clean hall light covers. - As needed:
Thoroughly clean vacant student rooms; change light bulbs; clean light fixtures; stock bathrooms; check smoke detectors and door hinges; remove snow from entrances; answer student questions; enforce trunk‑room policy; complete damage reports.
- No formal education or experience required.
- Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment and hand‑held tools.
- Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
- Ability to work from ladders up to an 8‑foot step ladder.
- Ability to work in a residential setting and interact with a culturally diverse student population.
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime as required.
- Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.
- Completed training:
Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Driver Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Asbestos Awareness.
