Position PurposeUnder supervision of the Custodial Squad Leader or Custodial Supervisor, perform a wide variety of tasks including cleaning, unskilled building maintenance, event set‑ups, animal and insect control, and recycling procedures. The role involves medium to heavy lifting inside and outside college facilities such as office space, laboratories, eating areas, auditoriums, etc. This is a 20‑hour/week temporary position with a 6‑month duration.
Responsibilities- Clean and maintain building spaces.
- Perform unskilled building maintenance tasks.
- Set up events in different spaces.
- Control animal and insect presence.
- Implement recycling procedures.
- Perform medium to heavy lifting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others.
- Dependable, reliable, and able to work autonomously or as part of a team.
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lifting, carrying light to medium weight objects).
- At least six months' experience in custodial work.
- Operate and maintain heavy industrial cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, powered scrubber, buffer, carpet shampooer) and hand‑operated tools.
- Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals and insect control substances.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn various table/chair arrangements for event set‑ups.
- Successfully complete Hazard Communication and Blood Borne Pathogens training prior to performing work.
