Printing Press Operator

As a Roll tender at Sheridan NH, you will be responsible for the procurement, examination, installation, and seamless splicing of paper rolls. Your primary focus is to ensure that all necessary production supplies and chemical solutions remain at optimal levels throughout the manufacturing cycle, reporting directly to the Press Supervisor.

• Examine project specifications and process all necessary documentation.
• Confirm the paper stock and basis weight meet requirements, while inspecting for flaws and logging findings in the relevant reports.
• Perform a thorough 3-way match verification.
• Ensure the press is fully prepared for operational status.
• Calibrate the web to achieve precise positioning.
• Submit signatures to the Supervisor to facilitate content verification.
• Manage ink and supply inventories, including sampling fountain solutions as necessary.
• Clean press units as the production schedule dictates.
• Provide assistance during the plate mounting process.
• Ensure the waste bin and recycling containers are emptied during every shift to maintain a clean facility.
• Coordinate with the supervisor or authorized staff for the disposal of hazardous materials.
• Document the weight of butt rolls for warehouse records and input paper usage data into the Logic system.
• Actively contribute to the CJK Group Core Values initiative across the organization.
• Observe all standard operating procedures.
• Promote a culture of safety by strictly following all protocols to help maintain a secure environment for the entire team.
• Execute additional tasks as needed, such as performing preventative maintenance or providing support to the Finishing Department.

• Possession of a High School diploma, GED, or HiSET is mandatory.
• At least six months of relevant experience with this type of machinery or equivalent cross-training as a Roll tender.
• Proficiency in basic verbal and written communication.
• Capability to maintain high levels of productivity while ensuring safe work habits.
• Dependability and a consistent attendance record are essential.
• Willingness to work extra hours when production demands require it.
• Demonstrated ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Prior professional experience in a roll tender capacity is highly desirable.
