The Gnotobiotic Research Assistant is responsible for the daily care of Gnotobiotic research animals and facility, that require unique skillsets or highly specialized oversight and housing.

- Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors plus 1-2 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

* Competence in several laboratory methods, procedures and techniques as well as the equipment and instruments. Ability to work independently with good judgment and good organizational and time management skills.

* Willingness to work with animals .

* Knowledge of standard computer software packages for data analysis and presentation, and on-line literature search engines

Description

Conducts laboratory experiments/tests, utilizing a range of established methods, procedures, and techniques with necessary preparations, observes experiment, records observations and maintains laboratory notebook.

Percentage Of Time 20 Description

Prepares appropriate and understandable representations of data such as graphs, charts, tables, statistical summaries, etc. Analyzes data resulting from experimentation/testing. Summarizes results and prepares progress reports for oral presentation.

Instructs others in laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques and provides technical guidance and direction as required. Maintains computerized records associated with laboratory activities.
