Family And Consumer Sciences Teacher
Are you ready to teach students skills they will actually use every single day of their lives? Hanover Public School District is seeking an enthusiastic Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Teacher to lead our popular high school culinary arts elective courses.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver Engaging Electives:
Teach introductory to advanced culinary arts courses, including topics on fundamental cooking techniques, baking, global cuisine, and wellness. Lab Management:
Oversee the kitchen classrooms, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and highly organized environment for student-led cooking labs. Curriculum Development:
Integrate modern nutritional trends, food science, and financial literacy (food budgeting) into daily lessons. Inspire Life
Skills:
Foster collaboration, time management, and problem-solving skills through hands-on group lab work.
Certification:
Valid PA Instructional I or II Certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences K-12. Alternate Eligibility: A related Bachelor's degree, like hospitality/restaurant management or culinary arts, or a valid PA secondary certification, and a willingness to complete the applicable certification program while on an Emergency Permit.
Experience:
Previous classroom teaching experience or student teaching in an FCS kitchen environment is preferred. Mandatory PA Clearances:
Must possess or be able to secure all standard Pennsylvania school clearances.
Skills:
Strong classroom management skills (especially while multiple ovens are running at once) and a genuine love for mentoring high schoolers.
