Mild Steel Rail Fabricator

Hanover Iron Works, Inc. is seeking a skilled a Mild Steel Rail Fabricator to join our team. Our team works on exciting construction projects installing stairs, rails, and miscellaneous metals.

As a Mild Steel Rail Fabricator you will read and interpret blueprints to be able to accurately and efficiently assemble various types of steel guardrails/handrails. The fabricator gathers the required material, preps it for fit-up, and then assembles the rails to the dimensions on the blueprints. Once assembled, you will work closely with Quality Control to ensure all rails meet required standards before they are released for finishing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read, understand, and lay out in accordance with blueprints
• Operate cold saw, band saw, pipe notcher and grinder
• MIG, TIG, and Stick Weld
• Operate overhead crane
• Operate forklift and pallet jack
• Position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units or subunits
• Use jigs, welding torches and hand tools

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, tool-box shop talks, safety procedures, Operator's Manuals and maintenance instructions
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions
• Experience using tape measures and hand tools
• Requires some knowledge of various tools for fabrication and layout
• Ability to use basic math and geometry
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing schedule and switch from job to job
