Prior experience with bridge mills or comparable large-format CNC machining is essential, along with a strong focus on precision, safety, and quality.
Responsibilities- Independently plan and perform complex CNC bridge mill setups, taking jobs from blueprint through to finished parts.
- Interpret detailed blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining strategies, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
- Safely position, fixture, and machine large or high-value work pieces, ensuring secure work holding and proper alignment.
- Select appropriate tooling and work holding solutions, and set speeds, feeds, and offsets to achieve tight tolerances and optimal surface finishes.
- Execute machining operations on bridge mills or comparable large-format CNC machines for tight-tolerance, low-volume, and complex custom components.
- Perform precision inspection of machined parts using GD&T principles, shop math, and appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Edit CNC programs as needed on the machine and, where applicable, contribute to programming for complex jobs.
- Collaborate directly with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical issues, refine processes, and meet customer and internal specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining and dimensional problems, adjusting tooling, offsets, and setups to maintain quality and productivity.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safe work practices at all times when handling large work pieces and operating machinery.
