DON (Director of Nursing) Opportunity
Healthcare Recruiters seeks a Director of Nursing (DON) for their client's drug and alcohol treatment facility in Hanover, PA. This is a full-time onsite position. Position Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) provides leadership and oversight of nursing services in a substance use disorder treatment and detoxification setting. The DON is responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe, compliant, and coordinated nursing care while supervising nursing staff and supporting a therapeutic environment for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and annually review nursing policies, procedures, objectives, and quality improvement programs.
- Coordinate nursing services with the multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure continuity of client care.
- Assist with nursing department planning, budgeting, staffing, job descriptions, and assignments.
- Supervise, train, orient, and support nursing staff and participate in ongoing staff education.
- Monitor accurate and timely client documentation, medication administration, and medication self-administration records.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement activities.
- Assess clients undergoing detoxification and respond appropriately to medical and behavioral emergencies.
- Screen clients for intoxication, withdrawal, substance toxicity, and risk of harm to self or others.
- Provide education regarding substance use, treatment, medications, and recovery.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in PA, in good standing.
- Minimum 1 year of nursing supervision or nursing administration experience, or equivalent experience.
- For detoxification settings, 1 year of supervisory experience or 3 years of experience in an opioid treatment or detoxification facility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency.
- Ability to effectively supervise nursing staff and manage nursing operations.
- Ability to assess and respond to the medical and behavioral needs of clients undergoing detoxification.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, withdrawal management, medication-assisted treatment, and toxicology testing.
- Strong understanding of ethical standards, client confidentiality, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in a substance use disorder treatment, detoxification, or behavioral health setting.
- Experience managing or supervising nursing services in a licensed substance use treatment facility.
