Essential functions include conducting logic and accuracy testing on voting equipment, supervising operations at the Early Voting Center, assisting with post-election canvas meetings, designing templates for pollbooks, administering election laws, collaborating on strategic objectives, maintaining election records, coordinating hiring and training of election officials, managing inventory control, and responding to voter inquiries. The role also involves occasional lifting of objects between 30 and 50 pounds, long periods of standing, and working beyond scheduled hours, including weekends.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include understanding voter registration laws, geography of the county, department organization, occupational hazards, terminology, English proficiency, relationship-building, software proficiency, office equipment operation, multitasking, and independent judgment.
Education and training requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, an associate's degree preferred, four years of professional administrative/clerical work experience, computer proficiency, customer service experience, and the ability to type 50 words per minute. Special conditions include obtaining Virginia Registered Election Officials certification, criminal records check, fingerprinting, a notary commission, a valid Virginia driver's license, and a twelve-month probationary period.
