Database Administrator - Hanover, VA
A newly awarded federal program supporting critical defense cyber and IT operations is standing up its team, and we are hiring now. Getting in at the start of a contract is the difference between inheriting someone else's work and shaping how the job actually gets done. Position Summary Supports database administration for a federal IT service management contract, primarily the Service Now CMDB and its integrations, plus AD-integrated data feeds for enterprise reporting and dashboarding.
Ensures data integrity, performance, and security compliance across supported platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the Service Now CMDB; ensure data accuracy and alignment with asset records
- Manage schema changes, data imports/exports, and integrations supporting Service Now development
- Maintain data feeds for Power BI dashboards and AD-integrated reporting sources
- Perform routine maintenance: backups, patching, performance tuning, capacity monitoring
- Manage database-level user access and permissions (least-privilege)
- Apply DISA STIG hardening; maintain NVD/CVE vulnerability awareness
- Support RMF/ATO documentation (eMASS) for database security controls
- Develop, maintain, and periodically test backup/disaster recovery procedures
Required Qualifications
- 2-5 years database administration experience
- Relational database experience (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL)
- Working knowledge of Service Now/CMDB and AD-integrated environments
- DISA STIG hardening experience
- Active Top Secret clearance
- Security + Certification
- Must be able to work on-site in Hanover VA
Preferred Qualifications
- DoD/federal ITSM experience
- Service Now System Administrator certification
- Power BI data source management experience
- Familiarity with RMF/eMASS processes
- Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, or related field
