Paraprofessional – Class 4 Specialist/Behavioral Program Job Description
Position Title:
Paraprofessional, Class 4 Specialist/Behavioral Program.
The role includes academic support for students, behavior intervention, crisis prevention, and physical assistance as needed.
Responsibilities- Assist with toileting and physical assistance for students with special needs.
- Support students requiring de‑escalation, time‑outs, or restraints.
- Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPS) through data collection and reinforcement under the supervision of a classroom teacher and/or BCBA.
- Support discrete trial training (DTT) under the supervision of a classroom teacher and/or BCBA.
- Assist in the education and social development of students under the direction of general or special education teachers.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans and monitor progress.
- Provide support for identified students inside and outside the classroom to enable participation in activities.
- Assist in administration of state and district‑wide assessments.
- Implement special strategies as required by supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Perform clerical duties as directed by supervisor.
- Manage student behavior under the direction of supervisor.
- Engage in personal career development through in‑service training opportunities provided by the district.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent higher education, or completion of 48 credit hours at an institution of higher education.
- Evidence of completion of one of the formal Massachusetts‑endorsed assessments:
Para Pro or Work Keys. - Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) restraint training.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
