The IT Systems Engineer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Harahan, LA, responsible for maintaining and improving the company’s IT infrastructure across office and field operations. This role includes daily system administration tasks such as managing servers, user accounts, backups, and security updates, as well as monitoring system performance and availability. The IT Systems Engineer will provide hands‑on technical support to team members, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, and elevate complex problems when necessary.
The position also involves configuring and maintaining network equipment, supporting connectivity for vessels and remote locations, and implementing best practices for cybersecurity and data protection. The IT Systems Engineer will collaborate with vendors, assist with IT projects and upgrades, document procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement of technology processes that support safe and efficient marine operations.
- Strong foundation in Information Technology, including general IT concepts, infrastructure, and best practices.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting and Technical Support, with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and user issues in a timely, customer‑focused manner.
- Hands‑on System Administration experience (e.g., Windows servers, Active Directory, user and group management, backups, patching, and security configuration).
- Practical Network Administration skills, including configuring and supporting switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
- Relevant experience in an on‑site, operations‑focused environment; marine, transportation, or industrial sectors a plus.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, endpoint protection, and data protection practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with non‑technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and respond to critical issues after hours when needed.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco) are beneficial but not required.
