Manual Machinist - 2nd Shift

Overview & Responsibilities

To perform complex setups, select tooling and required equipment for machining of parts to required specifications. Developed skills and experience to plan and oversee repairs with very minimal supervision or feedback. Advanced skills to work to any critical tolerance required for the job. Helps to direct and train other employees in the functions and processes of machine operations. Ability to complete work in a safe and timely manner to meet customer needs.

• Advanced knowledge of machine equipment and machining operations of various machines, including horizontal and vertical lathes, layout machines, vertical boring mills, horizontal mills, grinders, deburring tools, fixtures, radial and angular drill press, forklifts, cranes, rigging, jib hoists, personal computers, and other required tools.
• Advanced knowledge and accuracy in using measuring devices: micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other required tools.
• Full understanding of tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications, and documentation.
• Perform complex setups and unusual machine operations such as turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, peening, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving, grinding, and other required actions.
• Work to any critical tolerance required.
• Competently read and comprehend drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
• Reverse engineer components to create drawings or manufacture as needed.
• Maintain equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance and notifying the appropriate representative for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Accurately measure and record dimensional inspections and pass annual dimensional inspection tests.
• Complete layouts of parts.
• Help train other employees in equipment operation, reading prints, tooling selection, and repair processes.
• Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability in setup and production.
• Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Update job knowledge by participating in company‑provided educational material, training, and reading technical publications.
• Accomplish organizational goals by owning new requests and exploring opportunities.

• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• 8–10 years’ experience with rotating turbo machinery.
• Advanced rigging capabilities.
• Advanced machining capabilities on manual lathes.
• Experience with turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment.
