River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents, and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma‐based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders. Situated on a 14‑acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).
The Assistant Director of Admissions provides department oversight on evening and night shift staff and operations (4:00 pm–12:00 am). Responsibilities include telephonic and in‑person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordination of the referral and intake process, determination of appropriate level of care, facilitation of the admission process, and maintenance of communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff.
The Assistant Director also manages the communications department employees, schedules receptionists, and promotes patient care consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the hospital. All duties are performed in accordance with the facility’s mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards.

- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, psychology, or human services.
- License preferred – RN, LCSW, LMFT, or LPC licensure.
- Prior intake, assessment, admission, and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental‑health population required, preferably in an inpatient setting.
- 1–2 years of management experience required.
