Admissions Nurse Opportunity
River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. We specialize in acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma-based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders.
Responsibilities- Review medical and clinical referral information to determine appropriateness of admission.
- Assess patients using a systematic process that includes interaction with the patient, their significant others, and other healthcare providers.
- Collect and analyze information regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, and anticipated discharge planning needs.
- Participate in Emergency Services emergency codes as necessary for safe department operation.
- Complete nursing assessments for admitted patients, perform skin assessments, contraband checks, and escort patients to the floor.
- Float to the Intake department as needed to answer phone calls or perform assessments of referrals and assist with high‑acuity or busy unit support.
- Respond to telephone and face‑to‑face inquiries about mental health care or information about River Oaks Hospital services.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Minimum of one year psychiatric inpatient experience.
- Current Louisiana State Registered Nurse license.
- CPR certification and training in the appropriate use of seclusion and restraint.
- Ability to review medical and clinical referral information and conduct systematic patient assessments.
