Admissions Nurse Opportunity

River Oaks Hospital is a private psychiatric facility located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Admissions Nurse reviews medical and clinical referral information for appropriateness of admission. Assess patients through a systematic process of interacting with the patient, significant others, and appropriate health care providers.

When requested, collect and analyze data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, and anticipated discharge planning needs. Participate in emergency services codes as necessary for the department’s safe operation. Complete nursing assessment for admitted patients; perform skin assessments and contraband checks and escort patients to the floor.

As time permits, the admissions nurse may be floated to the intake department to answer phones or perform assessments of referrals for potential admission. May respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries seeking mental health care or information about River Oaks Hospital services. May be utilized by the house supervisor to assist on high-acuity or busy units when not performing admission assessments.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum one-year psychiatric inpatient experience required.
• Current Louisiana State Registered Nurse license.
• CPR certification and training in appropriate use of seclusion and restraint before unit orientation.
