Maintenance Worker, Building Maintenance
Overview
Performs construction, repair, and maintenance work on sewer and water lines; operates equipment and performs extensive manual labor; reads meters; performs related work as required.
SupervisionSupervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Water Field Supervisor or the on-site supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Responsibilities- Operates a jackhammer, lawn mower, power saw, tapping machine, chain saw, hand tools, light trucks, and assists vactor truck.
- Performs preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Performs minor painting, plumbing, and maintenance.
- Cleans and stocks the truck.
- Loads and unloads various materials; performs yard clean-up and all other duties assigned.
- Performs after-hours standby duty and serves on rotation of duty phone.
- Assists in installing and maintaining water and sewer lines.
- Assists other departments as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attendance and timeliness are essential functions of the job.

High school diploma or GED. Must be able to obtain Texas CDL-B within six (6) months from date of hire. Must be able to obtain a Texas “D” Water Distribution and Texas Collections I Certification within one (1) year from date of hire, and must be able to obtain a Texas "C" Water Distribution Certification within three (3) years from date of hire.
ExperienceA minimum of six (6) months experience in performing construction work requiring the use of equipment similar to or the same as assigned to this position.
