JOB SUMMARY

Performs construction, repair, and maintenance work on sewer and water lines; operates equipment and performs extensive manual labor; reads meters; performs related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Street, Drainage & Sanitation Field Supervisor or on-site supervisor.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Operates a jackhammer, lawn mower, power saw, tapping machine, chain saw, hand tools, light trucks, assist with sewer cleaning machine, and operates a backhoe.

Performs maintenance on meters and other components.

Assists in installing and maintaining water and sewer lines; repairs wastewater main and manholes.

Performs preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.

Performs minor painting, plumbing, and maintenance.

Cleans and stocks the truck.

Loads and unloads various materials; performs yard clean-up and all other duties assigned.

Performs after-hours standby duty and serves on rotation of duty phone.

Assists other departments as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED; must be able to obtain Texas CDL-B within six (6) months from date of hire.
A minimum of six (6) months experience in performing construction work requiring the use of equipment similar to or the same as assigned to this position.
