Scope of Job
The Department of Neuro and Behavioral Health at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) seeks a motivated and energetic candidate for an open rank position in the non-tenure academic clinician track, with expertise in managing and treating various cognitive specific disorders. These disorders may include but, not be limited to Alzheimer’s disease (or other forms of dementia), Mild Cognitive Impairment ( MCI ), Vascular Cognitive Impairment, Frontotemporal dementia, Traumatic Brain injury, Stroke-related cognitive changes, Epilepsy, Neurodegenerative diseases, and brain tumors, The successful candidate should also be able to treat other general neurological disorders.
The ideal candidate will continue the growth and sustainability of the residency program to include but not be limited to teaching, further developing the Neurology residency (according to ACGME accreditation requirements) with GME leaders, ISU , leading didactics, sustaining and growing collaborative community partnerships in the Rio Grande Valley. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will provide outpatient care at UT Health’s Neurology Clinic located at the Institute of Neuroscience and potentially with other clinical partners with or without trainees.
Responsibilities will include teaching UTRGV School of Medicine students and residents (Neurology, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Podiatry).
The outpatient clinic is located at the Institute of Neuroscience in Harlingen, Texas.
Minimum Qualifications
M.D. or equivalent with board certification or board eligibility with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology;
Subspecialty designation in areas like clinical neurophysiology through the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology ( ABCN ). Must possess or able to obtain a valid Texas medical license.
