PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

Provide special education students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials according to ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas Teacher certificate in Special Education/content certificate for certain assignments or eligible for employment through an Alternative Certification Program (ACP).
• Eligible ACP candidates must also meet ACP requirements and pass TExES examination(s) required for this position.
• Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

• Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
• Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee
• Process and IEP goal setting process and implementation
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

CALENDAR: 187 work days
