Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must have no criminal record or criminal charges pending

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with liability insurance

Must be able to speak, read and write English

Must have or be willing to obtain First Aide/CPR certification

Must have a clear TB and physical examination before first day of employment

Must have an Associate's Degree Early Childhood Education

Must have computer skills – Microsoft Windows environment and Office suite

Must have superior computer skills – Microsoft Windows environment and Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

Have a Baccalaureate Degree in Early Childhood Education

Be Bilingual – able or willing to learn to speak, read and write English and Spanish

Be a local resident of Cameron or Willacy County

Be a person sensitive to the needs of the poor and disadvantaged

General Responsibilities

Responsible of the assigned Head Start/Early Head Start classroom

Responsible for the overall operation and management of the classroom

Must work in a team teaching approach with a teacher aide and insure that all curriculum activities and program Performance Standards be implemented in the classroom

Responsible for the proper nutrition of all children

Assist in formulation and maintaining records of individual children in the classroom

Responsible for the care of classroom equipment, materials and supplies

Responsible for daily/weekly classroom lesson plan

Will assure that all screening activities are conducted and follow-up is completed.

Designs Individual Education Plans (IEP) as needed

Supervises teacher aide and delegates responsibilities so team teaching is enhanced.

When necessary will be expected to attend staff training through pre-service, in-service workshops, and out of town conferences

Supports the efforts of Head Start families in the enhancement of their children's healthy wellbeing and academic success

Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor relative to program operations

Works on weekends, holidays, and/or evenings on especial assigned projects and/or tasks on request of the Executive/Head Start Director
