Assistant/Associate/Professor of Neurology – Program Director, Neurology Residency Program – Harlingen, Texas (Division of Health Affairs).

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology and Behavioral Health is seeking a full‑time faculty member to serve as the Program Director of the newly founded Neurology Residency Program. The candidate will oversee the growth and sustainability of the residency, including teaching, further development with GME leaders and ISU Chair in accordance with ACGME accreditation requirements, leading didactics, and sustaining and expanding collaborative community partnerships in the Rio Grande Valley.

The incumbent may also provide outpatient care at UT Health’s Neurology Clinic located at the Institute of Neuroscience and potentially with other clinical partners, with or without trainees.

• Train and supervise neurology residents.
• Develop and maintain the residency curriculum and didactic schedule.
• Ensure accreditation compliance and program quality.
• Foster community collaboration for clinical training opportunities.
• Provide outpatient neurology care as needed.

• M.D. or equivalent degree.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Texas Medical License.
• Board‑Certified or Board‑Eligible in Neurology; qualified for a faculty appointment in the Department of Neurology and Behavioral Health.

• Two (2) years of Program Director experience.
• EMG training and experience.

UTRGV is a distributed institution, and the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code § 51.215. The retirement plan for this position is the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least twenty hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

The position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being forty hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
