About this RoleBroadband Project Engineer located in the Atlanta, Georgia office. We are looking for a professional who can work independently while collaborating with a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver high‑quality broadband design, analysis, and project support.
Qualifications / Requirements- Engineering:
Bachelor’s degree in civil or a related engineering discipline that satisfies state licensing requirements. - Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
- Minimum 2+ years of professional engineering experience; EIT or PE may be required.
- Knowledge of standard engineering techniques and Cobb Fendley’s QA/QC Management System.
- Proficiency with industry standard software (CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, Micro Station, GIS, hydrologic/hydraulic models).
- Strong spreadsheet, word‑processing, and office software skills.
- Ability to meet physical and cognitive job requirements, including extended periods of sitting and standing, basic manual handling, and field travel.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment screening, including drug test and background check.
- Practical understanding of engineering and scientific procedures to carry out tasks independently.
- Familiarity with Cobb Fendley’s QA/QC System.
- Experience using CADD, AutoCAD, Micro Station, GIS, and hydrologic/hydraulic models.
- Ability to use spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
- Complete intermediate design and analysis tasks using the determined software and criteria, under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
- Work independently to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, with judgment for minor adaptations.
- Escalate unusual problems for review.
- Utilize Company QA/QC processes to review tasks and documents.
- Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, mentors, and internal personnel to complete assignments.
- Attend client meetings and assist with client communication.
- Utilize formal education and practical experience in assignments.
- Attend internal or external training as assigned.
- Assist in onboarding and training for entry‑level engineers.
- Problem‑solve minor issues and escape concerns when necessary.
- Attend client meetings.
- Apply technical expertise on conventional and unconventional broadband projects.
- Perform independent research and adapt to changing priorities.
- Manage self‑QA/QC of work.
- Maintain safety standards on all projects.
- Support project managers and engineers with design or coordination tasks.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of client standards, rules, and requirements.
- Understand broadband network components: OSP, ISP, and Wireless.
- Read and interpret plans for various project types.
- Understand Utility Coordination and Inspection processes.
- Familiarity with traffic engineering, AASHTO, local DOT, and railroad standards, and coordinate with railroads when required.
- Seated and standing position for extended periods.
- Office mobility, including navigation between floors.
- Regular neck and arm movements while using multiple monitors.
- Repetitive finger motion for computer use.
- Ability to lift and transport objects.
- Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Exposure to electronic office equipment and occasional field out‑door conditions.
- Full‑time: 40 hours per week, with potential overtime as needed.
- Standard hours Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST.
- 1‑hour unpaid lunch break.
Hybrid schedule available after the training period as established by the department.
