Cardiac Stress Technician- SPECT or PET/CT
Cardiac Stress Technicians work with referring and supervising physicians, the office staff, nuclear medicine technologists, and patients to conduct full cardiac stress testing procedures. They are responsible for pre‑procedure patient education, IV access, electrode placement, patient history review, and assessment of patient condition. During the procedure they monitor vital signs, operate the treadmill safely, document and interpret ECG and blood pressure readings, and consult with imaging technologists and physicians as needed.
They assist with preparation of pharmacologic agents, participate in quality assurance studies, in‑service programs, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. All activities involve a strong commitment to patient safety, including life‑saving techniques such as BCLS, ACLS, AED, and drug management for crash cart use.
- High school graduate.
- Graduate of an accredited paramedic training program with a minimum of five years of in‑field experience.
- Good communication (oral and written), human relations, and training skills to work effectively with patients, managers, staff, and physicians.
- Professionalism and poise to handle conflict and emergencies when they arise.
- Experience monitoring ECG tracings.
- Ability to start IVs.
- Experience with nuclear stress tests.
- Experience with technology and media devices.

Working ConditionsManual dexterity is required for machine control and device setup. The position involves following procedures and standards, interacting with patients under stress, positioning patients for examination, assisting patients onto examination tables, and lifting patients. Prolonged standing is required for most of the time. The technician must drive to various locations as required and may be exposed to electrical, magnetic, and ionizing radiation hazards;
protective gear is mandatory.
