Infection Preventionist
The Infection Preventionist coordinates the infection control program in the hospital. The designated person will be given the authority to implement and enforce the Program policies, coordinate all infection prevention and control activities within the hospital, and facilitate ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of prevention and/or control activities and interventions. The Infection Preventionist will ensure the IP program is in compliance with professional, state, federal and regulatory standards designed to reduce or eliminate spread of infections outbreaks in the facility and to monitor patient care for compliance with established standards.
ResponsibilitiesProvides related education to staff, patients and visitors as needed. Conducts rounding, audits, tracers, and just-in-time education. Performs daily surveillance and reporting. Participates in root cause analyses and strategic meetings regarding infection prevention initiatives.
QualificationsEducation: Required:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field.
Experience: Required: 2 years working in an acute care facility or 2 years working in Infection Prevention in a non-acute care setting. Preferred: 1 year working in Infection Prevention in an acute care setting.
Certifications: Required: AHA BLS. Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) within 2 years of hire.
