The Therapy Supervisor assists the Director to ensure that the highest standard of rehabilitation services is delivered and maintained. The Therapy Supervisor assists the Director in goal planning, development, implementation, directing and monitoring of the Outpatient Rehab by direct supervision all clinical staff members. Assures competency of all personnel. Assists in formulating budget, evaluates department system of reviewing department charges, evaluates department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines.

The Therapy Supervisor also assists in ensuring customer satisfaction with the development and implementation of quality and cost effective clinical programs and ensuring that services are provided efficiently and effectively within DHR's mission, vision, and values and in accordance with safe professional practice. The Therapy Supervisor recognizes the interdisciplinary nature of the outpatient Physical Rehab program and therefore collaborates with other departments and their leadership to meet the goals of the Director and of the facility.

The Therapy Supervisor also maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.

Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapist or physical therapist assistant required

Current registered physical therapist/assistant license in the State of Texas

Current BLS certification required

Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Good written and verbal communication skills required.

Three (3) years of outpatient rehab experience preferred.

Knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology

Knowledge of disease processes and related causative factors

Knowledge of benefits/values of rehabilitative medicine and rehabilitative medicine agents

Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique and related impact on rehabilitative medicine practice and equipment.

Knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same.

Ability to maintain control and respond calmly and positively during crisis situations (i.e. Code Blue)

Demonstrated knowledge of operations and healthcare management, TJC and other local, state and federal regulations.

Responsible for the supervision of Rehabilitation Staff.

Promote the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices

Direct and manage the delivery of therapy services and patient care which are integrated with business plans and meet or exceed cost, quality, clinical, and utilization standards and performance measures.

Ensure that services meet members, physicians, and internal clients' needs in a changing, competitive health care market.

Observe and evaluates treatment effectiveness and recommends change to physician if needed.

Ability to perform and appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and the general patient population.

Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of all rehabilitation services modalities.

Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.

Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly. Maintain department cleanliness and safety. Comply with ongoing departmental inspections of equipment and physical space, make recommendations regarding equipment utilization and needs.
