Certified Nursing Assistant - CNA

Position Overview

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) positions are available for day (6am-6pm) and night (6pm-6am) shifts at Golden Palms Rehabilitation and Retirement. All candidates must hold a valid Texas CNA license.

• Provide compassionate resident care as directed by licensed nurses.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and document care in the medical record.
• Promptly respond to resident call lights and perform routine checks to ensure personal care needs are met.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident information and communicate professionally with residents, families, and staff.
• Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood and body fluids.
• Assist residents with daily dental and oral hygiene (e.g., brushing teeth, dentures, special mouth care).
• Assist residents with bath functions, including bed bath, tub or shower bath, and give backrubs as instructed.
• Help residents with dressing and undressing, hair care, nail care, shaving, and keeping hair clean and shaved as required.
• Change bed linens and prepare beds (occupied and unoccupied), ensuring linens are kept tight and wrinkle-free.
• Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions, including toileting, use of bedpan/urinal, portable commode, and maintaining I&O records.
• Gather and report bowel movements and stool characteristics, prepare and give enemas, and collect specimens (urine, sputum, stool) as instructed.
• Prepare residents for medical tests, including lab work, X‑ray, therapy, dental, and other procedures.
• Assist with transporting residents to appointments, activities, and social programs and help mobilize residents to walk with or without assistive devices.
• Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures, change dressing and bandages, and provide eye and ear care as directed.
• Weigh and measure residents, and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration).
• Ensure residents who cannot call for help are checked frequently, and report all complaints and grievances.
• Assist residents in the dying process and support families during end‑of‑life situations.

• Valid Texas Certified Nursing Assistant license.
• Demonstrated empathy, strong communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively with a nursing team.
• Physical ability to assist residents with mobility, lifting, turning, and positioning.
