The Quality Assurance Nurse performs nursing duties within the scope of a registered nurse and coordinates quality assurance and improvement activities related to nursing and clinical care at a State Supported Living Center. The role reports to the Quality Assurance Director and works to ensure quality data collection, analyze performance, provide recommendations, and facilitate education of nursing staff.

• Attend work regularly and may be required to work specific shift schedules, overtime, or on-call duties.
• Obtain and analyze data using monitoring and audit tools to assess quality of services.
• Complete inter-rater audits for clinical departments.
• Prepare and provide reports, data analysis, and recommendations for improvement.
• Communicate, teach, follow up, and assist in implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide education to employees, residents, and external monitoring groups.
• Actively participate in and facilitate work groups and committees.
• Participate in mortality reviews and track recommendations to completion.
• Practice professional nursing in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and agency policies.
• Provide treatment to HHS employees injured within scope of employment.
• Participate in disaster response/continuity of operations with alternate shift or location as required.

• Considerable knowledge of nursing techniques, standards, procedures, health care laws, medical diagnoses, and community health principles.
• Skill in patient care and treatment.
• Knowledge of state and federal nursing laws, ICF-IID rules, and State Supported Living Center policies.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and identify patterns of medically necessary treatment.
• Ability to plan, assign, and supervise work of others.
• Ability to train staff.
• Ability to make decisions and recommendations to leadership.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment, including CPR, and ability to perform CPR.

Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

• At least one (1) year of experience as a practicing registered nurse.
• At least two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse in a health agency, hospital, or health‑care facility preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Two years of nursing supervisory/administrative experience preferred.
• Quality assurance monitoring experience preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) preferred.

Monthly: $7,532.75 - $8,886.16 (Texas‑B‑24, Exempt).
