Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations in Michigan. This role is well suited for an early-career candidate who is eager to strengthen financial reporting accuracy, maintain organized records, and contribute to day-to-day ledger activity. The ideal candidate brings a solid academic foundation in accounting or finance, strong spreadsheet skills, and hands-on experience preparing journal entries and working within accounting systems.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.

- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues as needed.

- Support month-end and year-end closing activities by organizing financial data and assisting with account analysis.

- Review accounting records for completeness and accuracy while helping uphold internal documentation standards.

- Use Quick Books and other accounting tools to process routine financial activity and generate supporting reports.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for reconciliations, reporting, and daily accounting tasks. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

- At least 1 year of experience in an accounting role.

- Practical understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger processes.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for financial analysis, reporting, and documentation.

- Experience working with accounting software such as Quick Books is preferred.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.
