SIC is seeking a full-time, grant-funded TRIO/SSS Retention Specialist to join our team and support students in achieving their academic goals. This is a full-time, 12-month position within the TRIO/Student Support Services (TRIO/SSS) program.

The TRIO/SSS Retention Specialist plays an important role in helping students overcome barriers, stay engaged in their education, and successfully reach their academic goals. Working as part of the TRIO/SSS team, this position provides individualized and group support to students who may be at risk of dropping out or experiencing academic challenges.

The Retention Specialist builds meaningful relationships with students, assesses their academic and support needs, connects them with campus and community resources, and develops strategies that promote student persistence, retention, and completion. The position also collaborates closely with faculty, advisors, student services, and other campus partners to create a comprehensive network of support for students.

The ideal candidate will be a student-centered professional who is passionate about helping students succeed, enjoys working collaboratively, and can build trusting relationships with students from a variety of backgrounds.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years advising or counseling experience preferred.
  • Experience working with at-risk students and/or special populations of students.
  • Experience in higher education, specifically with community colleges, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
