We Need
The Town of Harrisburg is currently seeking Firefighter EMTs to join our Fire Department. Employees work on a 24-hour shift and participate as part of a team in the maintenance of facilities, equipment, and apparatus at a fire station. Employees serve as first responder Emergency Medical Technician - Basic for calls in the Town of Harrisburg and Harrisburg Fire District. Employees participate in fire education and prevention activities.
Employees also participate in pre-incident planning, maintenance of records, and training programs. Work requires that the employee stay abreast of state-of-the-art fire suppression and rescue procedures, techniques, and equipment and requires the employee to incorporate the necessary changes into in-service training. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through observation, conferences, and written reports concerning the quality and effectiveness of work completed.
Candidate
- Knowledge of fire science, hazardous materials response and handling, rescue operations, emergency medical response procedures, hydraulics, mechanics, pre-fire planning, and construction.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by completion of courses and seminars in fire service; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Ability to perform very heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Complete Harrisburg Fire Department Recruit Training Program.
- Possession of a valid class B North Carolina driver's license.
- Possession of or ability to obtain within department-required time frames NC Firefighter I/ II.
- North Carolina EMT - Basic, Rescue, and Hazardous Materials certifications.

The salary range is $50,950 - $63,688 and starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and prior experience. Will also be eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus upon hire.
