Yard Forklift Operator
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Forklift Operator to join our team in a full-time temp-to-hire position. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy forklifts in construction, steel, manufacturing, or other industrial environments. This position requires precision, reliability, and a strong commitment to workplace safety while handling heavy and oversized materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a heavy forklift to transport materials throughout construction, industrial, or metal-handling facilities
- Load and unload heavy materials from trucks, storage areas, and production workstations
- Handle large, heavy, and irregularly shaped materials with care and efficiency
- Properly stack, secure, and transport materials to prevent damage and ensure workplace safety
- Perform daily forklift inspections and routine equipment maintenance checks
- Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations
- Assist with general warehouse and material handling duties as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating heavy forklifts in construction, steel, manufacturing, or industrial environments
- Ability to safely maneuver large and heavy loads with accuracy
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safe material handling practices
- Valid forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification if required
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and in various weather environments
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe workplace
- Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy materials as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling steel beams, metal products, or oversized industrial materials
- Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, or metal fabrication environments
- Familiarity with warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, or inventory control
