Title:

Sr Accountant

Duration: 1+ month

Location:

Harrisburg, PA

Responsibilities:

The Senior Accountant position will pay a key role in the preparation of the monthly financial reporting of the company and its subsidiary. The position will be responsible for review of all entries, reconciliations, and reporting for assigned general ledger accounts and/or product lines. Senior Accounting position will be responsible for variance tracking and performance to budget on the monthly statements and operations reports.

The position will maintain and create layouts for analysis package schedules and other relevant reports using the People Soft/Hyperion reporting software. Works along with the Accounting Manager to prepare interim and annual external audit deliverables pursuant to external auditor requests.

1. Prepare monthly financial statements for review by the Accounting Manager

A. Compare year-to-date, prior year and budget figures on the Income Statement and Balance Sheet in comparison to the budget package and prior year statements to ensure accuracy

B. Assist with compiling and printing financial statements in accordance with GAAP within 3 business days of month end

C. Identify trends and significant issues on the Income Statement and Balance Sheet.

D. Create mitigation plan to offset and correct deficiencies.

E. Create monthly operational reports for key department managers.

F. Create and Maintain Key Performance Indicator reports and components to corporate dashboard. Complete and submit to Accounting Manager for review.

G. Utilize and create financial layout reports from the People Soft/Hyperion reporting software.

2. Assist with the year-end audit package for the external auditors

A. Analyze and document all assigned Balance Sheet accounts with supporting detail

B. Provide reconciliations and other requests in accordance with audit time frames

3. Reconcile assigned Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts within seven working days after the end of close

4. Prepare quarterly and annual Department of Insurance reports for submission by Accounting Manager.

5. Adheres to AMFC policies and procedures including but not limited to:
Employee Handbook, Corporate Code of Conduct, Confidentiality and Corporate Compliance Program, which includes Fraud, Waste and Abuse.

6. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Ability to understand and operationalize financial metrics and results for a diverse audience through excellent communication skills.

Accurate and timely information is critical and this position requires an individual that is detail oriented but with a sense of urgency to get the job done. Sound analytical thinking and reasoning is a key component of the position. Identifies process inefficiencies, recommends efficient process alternatives, and facilitates implementation of such process improvements. Performs other job related duties and projects as assigned

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of exp.

· CPA License preferred

· 3+ years progressive Accounting Experience.

Health Care experience in a managed care organization preferred. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting principles and cost accounting required.

Other Skills :

1. Knowledge of People Soft strongly preferred or equivalent financial related system.

2. Excellent Excel skills, intermediate other MS Office products.

3. Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
