The Position
The Bureau of Occupational and Industrial Safety is seeking a Certification, Accreditation and Licensing Inspector Trainee who is ready to learn and grow in a unique regulatory field. In this role, you will help protect the public by supporting inspections and investigations across a variety of facilities. You will gain hands-on experience with laws that ensure safety, quality, and proper certification.

This role supports inspections, investigations, and compliance reviews that help protect public safety and ensure proper certification across many industries. You will learn inspection procedures, apply state regulations, and assist with documenting important findings. As a Certification, Accreditation and Licensing Inspector Trainee, you will perform the following duties:
- Facility Inspections: Inspect locations that make, store, or sell bedding, upholstery, and stuffed toys to determine compliance with state laws
- Record Review: Examine required records and documentation to confirm proper sterilization, labeling, and registration practices
- Abatement Oversight: Visit asbestos and lead abatement sites to review project materials and support compliance with regulations
- Complaint Investigation: Investigate reports of possible violations and gather information to determine appropriate actions
- Enforcement Actions: Order removal of uncertified products or individuals and stop unsafe work when needed
- Reporting Duties: Prepare detailed written reports that explain inspection findings and recommended next steps

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in building maintenance or construction, workplace safety or inspection, retail sales, or customer service; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- You must obtain a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania asbestos worker training course completion certificate, a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities worker training course completion certificate, and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities inspector training course completion certificate within the probationary period.
Other Requirements:
- You must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following counties by date of hire: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, or Philadelphia . Expenses will not be paid.
