Transportation Construction Inspector

What We're Looking For:Michael Baker is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector to join the team in Harrisburg! This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead inspection efforts on high-impact roadway infrastructure projects. You'll play a critical role in ensuring construction quality, safety, and compliance with contract specifications, while working alongside a team of dedicated professionals committed to excellence in transportation development.
WhatYou'll Do:
- Daily inspections and testing of roadway construction materials, including earthwork, subgrade, base, and asphalt.
- Conduct inspections of concrete installations such as barrier walls, bridge decks, MSE walls, and drilled shafts.
- Maintain detailed daily logs of construction activities, inspection results, and contractor performance.
- Ensure all work meets specifications and OSHA safety regulations.
- Interpret construction plans and specifications, and provide guidance to contractors and project stakeholders.
- Safety Enforcement:
Promote and enforce safe work practices on-site.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass background check
- 1-4 years of experience working in a construction-related field
- Previous experience working on PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike highway and/or bridge projects, preferred
- ACI Field Technician Certification, PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, NICET Certification in Highway Construction, ECMS Wave 5 training, Materials Testing or Bridge Condition Inspection, and Troxler Nuclear Gauge Certification, preferred.
- Availability to work various shifts, including night shift. Overtime is often required.
- Position is subject to seasonal layoff.
The approximate compensation range for this position is $29.65/hr to $32.38/hr this compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
