Salary Range: $85,000.00 To $ Annually

Summary:Supports Manufacturing after products have been released to production. The Sustaining Engineer and the Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate on projects to support and enhance the outcome of the production processes. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for identifying and executing critical production improvement projects for the Strong Production team. The focus will be on improving process flows, and creating a more reliable, scalable manufacturing process through jigs, fixtures, improved flows, time studies, process mapping etc.

Projects will vary in scope and complexity from simple departmental jigs, to identifying major equipment additions to create automated manufacturing lines and test stations. This person will be responsible for evaluating and introducing new technologies, supporting existing manufacturing lines, and providing guidance for less experienced Production Managers to make them more effective. The individual is accountable to meeting deadlines and delivering projects within a budget.

Additionally, the individual will have strong leadership skills to lead cross functional continuous improvement teams and get things done with others that are not direct reports. This hands‑on role requires critical thinking and quick execution in a fast‑paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Evaluate assembly processes, perform investigations, and propose recommendation for improvement/correction in a timely manner, utilizing techniques such as:
Lean/6σ principles in manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Overall Equipment Efficiency, Equipment PM programs, Value Stream Mapping, RCA, SMED and statistical process control. Understands entire value stream of product from incoming receipt and inspection.

Analyze complaints/suggestions for eliminating waste from a process, using standard lean methodology to include 7 forms of waste, PDCA, etc. and generate prioritized actions to create measurable plans for improvement.

Manages project assignments of varying complexity; works with Production Management to prioritizes projects; determines project goals; maintains project schedule and tracks project milestones; selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion; and evaluates outcomes.

Analyze mechanical designs proposed by Design Engineers for manufacturability and testing.

Confers with the planning function to estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs; to plan equipment and space requirements, work force utilizations, and workflow; and to design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

Create strategy for the verification of the corrective designs, and participate in verification activities.

Produce assembly documentation for transfer to manufacturing with the assistance of an Engineering Assistant/technical writer. This will include but not limited to, SOP’s, WI’s, instructional signage, etc.

Contribute to risk management content such as FMEA, PFMEA and hazard analysis.

Perform all duties in compliance with the Strong quality standards and SOP’s; actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes.
