We are seeking a Network Engineer 2 to support network, security, server maintenance, and infrastructure operations in a professional enterprise environment. The selected candidate will assist the network and security team with local area networks, metropolitan area networks, physical and virtual servers, and private cloud infrastructure.
This role requires strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, Windows Server Administration, Cisco networking, server patching, troubleshooting, and security support. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, meet deadlines, resolve infrastructure issues, and clearly document technical recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
Build, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers.
Support VMware vSphere and Windows Server environments.
Maintain current patch levels on servers and infrastructure systems.
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco physical switches and VMware distributed virtual switches.
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, including Cradlepoint devices.
Assist with firewall administration and network security support.
Support investigation and mitigation of security incidents.
Monitor open support tickets and assist with backlog resolution.
Work toward departmental and project deadlines.
Document technical issues, risks, and remediation recommendations.
Present findings and recommendations to team leads and managers.
Support network, server, and security operations in a hybrid infrastructure environment.
Required Skills:
2+ years of VMware vSphere experience.
3+ years of Windows Server / VMware server administration experience.
Experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting physical and virtual servers.
Strong understanding of network and infrastructure support.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in a production environment.
Preferred
Skills:
Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager / MECM.
Microsoft System Center Operations Manager / SCOM.
Cisco Networking.
Cisco Unified Communications / VOIP.
Nessus by Tenable.
Firewall administration.
Linux administration.
Cradlepoint router experience.
Network security and incident response support.
Public-sector or government IT environment experience.
Work Schedule:
This is a 40-hour-per-week contract position. Standard work hours are either 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
Work Location:
The position is based in Harrisburg, PA. The selected candidate must be available to work onsite for the first two weeks for orientation. After orientation, telework may be available at the agency’s discretion, with a hybrid schedule of up to 3 days remote and 2 days onsite per week.
