Position Title: Facilities Engineer II
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Shift: 1st Shift
Summary of Objective: Facilities Engineer II estimates costs related to layout design, including equipment and materials, labor, and monitors the construction process. Plans and implements the design of plants, offices, and production lines to maximize space utilization and improve production efficiency. Ensures that established efficiency and safety targets are met. Researches facilities equipment or fixtures for purchase and gathers data relating to their ability to meet organizational needs.
Supports up to 60% of all facility operations tasks and aspects, including but not limited to scheduling and execution of preventive, corrective, and building maintenance; scheduling and working with contractors; and delegating work to facility workers based on priorities.
- Identify and mitigate facilities issues for existing business through strong engineering and process improvement methods.
- Provide technical leadership for new facilities projects.
- Lead continuous improvement activities.
- Specify, purchase, and commission new equipment and manage capital finances for larger projects < $1MM.
- Provide technical support for new business.
- Focus on technical and operational support to maintenance, production, and support staffs in process improvement, equipment modification and optimization, safety and quality improvement.
- Determine staffing, equipment needed, purchase, and installation.
- Apply sound engineering principles to designs and projects.
- Conduct and/or participate in internal customer meetings; interact with Engineering to determine requirements for new business.
- Prepare SOPs, floor layouts, and diagrams as needed.
- Administer, implement, and manage assigned projects using standardized methodology.
- Write and modify SOPs relating to the facility area and assist in training affected personnel.
- Lead CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) investigations and actions; investigate facility problems and discover causes of non-conformance.
- Apply engineering principles to improve existing equipment and reduce energy consumption.
- Facilitate cross-functional Lean Six Sigma process improvement teams using a DMAIC method.
- Ensure new business projects conform with customer requirements and equipment/process performance criteria.
- This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, and rules.
- Attend work as an essential function of this position.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Qualifications Required- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or 5-10 years related experience and/or training.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Intermediate computer skills: ability to perform more complex computer tasks and knowledge of various computer programs.
- Full professional proficiency: fluent and accurate speaking, reading, and writing at all professional levels.
- Very high reasoning: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in math or diagram form and manage several abstract or concrete variables.
- High standard of report writing.
- Familiarity with general industrial facilities equipment.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical facility utilities equipment such as HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, and air compressors is highly desirable.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership and project team interfacing with customers and operations personnel.
