Industrial Field Estimator / Project Manager About the Opportunity

We’re looking for an Industrial Field Estimator / Project Manager who understands how industrial work actually gets built, not just how it looks on a set of plans.

This is an estimating-first, cradle-to-grave role supporting industrial installation projects. You’ll take projects from the initial customer conversation and estimate through execution and completion. The work can include industrial piping, structural steel, machinery installation, equipment rigging, maintenance, and repair projects within manufacturing environments.

Unlike environments where every project arrives with a complete set of drawings and specifications, some opportunities start with a customer walking around the site and describing what they need. You’ll need the practical knowledge to evaluate that request, determine what labor, materials, equipment, and resources will be required, build the estimate, and then help carry the project through completion.

• Develop estimates for industrial projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Evaluate project requirements from drawings, specifications, site conditions, and direct customer conversations
• Estimate industrial piping, rigging, machinery installation, structural steel, maintenance, and related industrial work
• Build scopes and proposals even when complete engineered drawings are not available
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle
• Lead project kickoff activities after work is awarded
• Procure and coordinate required project materials
• Coordinate activities between field crews, shop operations, shipping, customers, and other project stakeholders
• Support onsite project execution and resolve issues as they arise
• Manage project documentation, RFIs, proposals, and related communication
• Monitor project costs and overall financial performance
• Support safety and quality expectations throughout project execution
• Remain accountable for projects from the initial estimate through final completion

We care more about your industrial knowledge and hands-on experience than checking a specific number of years or having a particular degree.

• Experience estimating work in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of industrial piping, rigging, machinery/equipment installation, structural steel, industrial maintenance, or related scopes
• The ability to determine labor, material, equipment, and installation requirements for industrial projects
• Experience reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications while also being comfortable estimating work when formal drawings are limited
• Experience carrying projects beyond the estimate and supporting their successful execution
• Strong problem-solving skills and practical field judgment
• Confidence communicating directly with customers
• Strong organizational skills and a sense of ownership
• Comfort using Excel, email, proposals, ERP/project systems, and other basic business technology
• Willingness to learn company-specific systems and processes

Formal education can be beneficial, but relevant hands-on industrial experience carries more weight for this position.

• HVAC/ductwork estimating without broader industrial mechanical exposure
• Project management with little or no estimating responsibility
• Estimating roles with no involvement after a project is awarded
