Systems Engineer, Cloud Computing: Infrastructure & Operations
Job Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and business‑enabling solutions across an on‑prem and hybrid cloud environment.
- Manage Windows and Linux OS environments, on‑premises virtualization platforms (e.g., Nutanix, VMware), and multi‑vendor cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), while also driving automation, security hardening, and compliance initiatives.
- Work cross‑functionally to manage configurations, automate processes, and uphold best practices in infrastructure reliability, performance, and risk mitigation.
- Engineer and maintain the Windows and Linux Server OS for deployment across on‑premises and multi‑cloud infrastructure, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity standards and corporate policies.
- Design, implement, and optimize virtualization platforms (e.g., Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere) to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of workloads.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to server hardware, Windows and Linux OS, virtualization configurations, and related infrastructure.
- Manage and automate system administration tasks through scripting (Power Shell, etc.), APIs, and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), driving an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach.
- Apply system hardening practices, conduct regular audits, and remediate vulnerabilities in collaboration with security teams and governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with BT colleagues and cross‑functional teams to integrate innovative technologies, enhance existing systems, and deliver business‑enabling solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, SOC
2), and best practices through documentation and system governance. - Provide technical support and mentorship to team members, platform owners, and other BT stakeholders.
- Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying opportunities for optimization and resource efficiency.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree (or U.S. Equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Must possess at least 7 years of overall work experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Must also possess at least 5 years of direct experience in systems engineering or infrastructure roles, focusing on Windows Server, Linux and virtualization technologies; 5 years experience with Nutanix AHV, VMware vSphere or similar hypervisor platforms (Hyper‑V, etc.); and 5 years experience utilizing scripting and automation, including Power Shell, APIs, and tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar configuration management platforms.
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non‑technical teams; and ability to influence stakeholders and unite diverse teams around a shared technology vision.
