Junior Data Scientist

Requirements

• Were looking for a bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
• Wed like to see 1–3 years of experience in an analytical or data science position.
• Proficiency in data manipulation and transformation with Python or R is required.
• Familiarity with SQL for querying and analyzing data is important.
• We expect knowledge of data science workflows, including data cleaning, feature engineering, and predictive modeling.
• Strong understanding of statistics, experimental design, and core data science principles is needed.
• You should have strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
• Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A masters degree in a quantitative field is preferred.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and app development tools such as Streamlit or RShiny is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Git and version control best practices is a plus.
• Experience building AI agents or agentic workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• We will use purchasing and dining data to analyze consumer behavior across Philadelphia venues and identify meaningful customer segments.
• We will interpret operational performance by combining labor tracking, POS, and inventory data, then recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
• We will carry out ad hoc analyses to measure the impact of short-term initiatives and define success metrics with cross-functional partners.
• We will help build automated reporting workflows that share key performance metrics with stakeholders across Philadelphia-area venues.
• We will support the creation of scalable data pipelines using Python, R, and SQL to improve data access and analytics delivery.
• We will assist in developing AI-powered applications and agentic workflows that automate operational tasks and provide actionable recommendations.
• We will perform machine learning experiments and model evaluation under the direction of our Senior Manager of Data Science.
