Overview

Alliance Cancer Specialists is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our oncology care team in our Main Line Location. In this role, you’ll provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative clinical environment as needed. You’ll work closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to support patients through every step of their cancer journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver professional nursing care in accordance with national standards and oncology-specific guidelines.
  • Assess patient health status through interviews, physical exams, and review of medical history.
  • Administer medications, blood products, and therapies under physician supervision.
  • Perform venipuncture, access ports, and maintain central line devices.
  • Monitor lab results and collaborate with physicians on dose modifications and symptom management.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and available resources.
  • Provide psychosocial support and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with OSHA and infection control protocols.
  • Assist with scheduling, triaging patient calls, and managing medication refill requests.
  • Serve as a mentor to LPNs, MAs, and less experienced nurses.
  • Participate in professional development and stay current with oncology nursing best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients, reviewing medical history, and performing physical examinations.
  • Collect and record nursing assessments and interventions.
  • Review and report results of assessments, laboratory data, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessments to the provider.
  • Provide teaching and instructional material to patients and families.
  • Serve as a resource for psychosocial support.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under physician direction and supervision.
  • Administer medications and blood products with correct dosage, route, time, and technique.
  • Ensure pre‑authorization and consent forms are obtained before therapy administration.
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing labs, consulting protocols, calculating doses, and consulting physicians.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and treatments provided.
  • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, restock supplies, and adhere to OSHA guidelines for cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste.
  • Follow disinfection protocols and keep equipment under quality control standards.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
  • Manage medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record information in patient charts.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
  • Schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests, procedures, referrals, and future appointments.
  • Triage patient phone calls and document relevant information in charts.
  • Coordinate communication between patients/families and the interdisciplinary team, and coordinate services related to patient care.
  • Assist patients in locating community resources.
  • Collaborate with clinical research and assist in interprofessional collaboration.
  • Act as a resource for LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
  • Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
  • Serve as mentor/preceptor and provide day‑to‑day guidance to less experienced nurses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain current oncology nursing knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Current RN license and registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (oncology experience preferred).
  • 3–5 years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology, preferred.
