Geisinger offers a Nursing Assistant position with a $1,500 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates, a starting rate of $16.25 per hour with increases for experience, up to $3 per shift for evening, night, and weekend shifts, and financial support up to $40,000 to become a nurse.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care activities as directed within nursing assistant scope of practice, supporting multidisciplinary care plans.
- Observe, document, and report changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
- Assist with activities of daily living, patient hygiene, changing linens, and one‑to‑one patient safety watch.
- Accurately collect, preserve, and transport specimens per policy and physician orders.
- Perform point‑of‑care patient testing, instrument maintenance, and quality control.
- Assist in problem solving and corrective maintenance of clinical equipment and supplies.
- Precept and mentor new staff and students.
- Complete clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths; transcribe orders; coordinate patient transport to tests and communicate electronic information as needed.
- Schedule and order supplies, maintain stock, and coordinate with food services for appropriate patient diets.
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience (preferred).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (American Heart Association) and Basic Life Support certification.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with CRM systems, interpersonal communication, and mathematics.
- Effective communication and preceptor skills.
- Geisinger may consider applicants currently enrolled in an accredited RN or LPN program for a Student Nurse Associate role.
