Job Summary
Prepares patients and equipment for endoscopic procedures and assists physicians during procedures. Maintains and modifies highly technical equipment before, during and after procedures, ensuring compliance with ASGE Quality Certification and all applicable regulations.
Job Duties- Prepare patients and set up appropriate equipment for endoscopic procedures.
- Assist physicians and anticipate their needs to facilitate an efficient and safe procedure.
- Provide service‑oriented support to patients.
- Assist with setup of monitoring devices and attach to patients.
- Prepare, identify, and verify all specimens obtained during procedures.
- Restock endoscopy supplies and monitor inventory.
- Serve as preceptor for new endoscopy personnel.
- Clean and process all equipment, instruments, and related items received for the endoscopy suites according to established procedures.
- Operate high‑level disinfectors ensuring each cycle is correct and completed.
- Maintain extensive records for all processed items.
- Maintain compliance with safety and preventative maintenance activities to minimize failures and unsafe conditions.
- Adhere to all policies, protocols and standards of care, including licensing and regulatory agency requirements.
- Follow written procedures for sterilization and disinfection.
- Understand responsibilities and procedures for chemical and biological monitoring.
- Organize activities with consideration of department needs.
- Cross‑train to assist with workflow as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) – required.
- Minimum of 1 year related work experience – preferred.
- Basic Life Support Certification – required.
- Clinical skills, communication, computer literacy, interpersonal communication, preceptor skills, and teamwork.
