Solar Inspection Technician

SpartanX is seeking an experienced Solar Inspection Technician to support residential solar inspection operations across our active markets.

This role serves as the critical quality checkpoint between installation and final approval. You'll evaluate completed solar projects for inspection readiness, identify deficiencies before the inspector does, coordinate necessary corrections, and help ensure projects are positioned to pass inspection the first time.

We're looking for someone with solid residential solar experience who knows what a quality installation should look like, catches the details others miss, and can confidently work with inspectors, AHJs, homeowners, and field teams.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct inspection-readiness reviews of completed residential solar installations
  • Verify projects meet company standards, AHJ requirements, utility requirements, and applicable codes
  • Identify installation deficiencies, workmanship concerns, and potential code issues before inspection
  • Verify required labels, placards, equipment, documentation, and other inspection-readiness items are complete
  • Attend residential solar inspections and communicate professionally with inspectors and AHJs
  • Coordinate correction items with Installation, Electrical, Service, and Operations teams
  • Document inspection results, deficiencies, correction requirements, and completed work accurately
  • Verify corrections have been completed properly before reinspection
  • Assist with scheduling and preparation for reinspections when necessary
  • Perform quality-control reviews to help improve first-time inspection pass rates
  • Identify recurring installation or inspection issues and communicate trends to leadership
  • Partner with field teams to improve installation consistency and reduce preventable inspection failures
What We're Looking For
  • Previous residential solar experience required
  • Strong understanding of residential solar installation practices and project workflows
  • Ability to recognize installation deficiencies, workmanship issues, and potential inspection concerns
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects efficiently
  • Professional communication skills when working with inspectors, AHJs, homeowners, and internal teams
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills
  • Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and outdoors in varying conditions
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous solar inspection, quality control, service, or installation experience
  • Working knowledge of NEC requirements and residential solar electrical systems
  • Electrical experience
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Experience working directly with AHJs, inspectors, permitting departments, or utilities
  • Experience preparing projects for inspection and resolving failed inspection items
Schedule

Primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturday availability required.

What We Offer
  • $25–$32/hour, based on experience and qualifications
  • Monthly vehicle allowance for business use
  • Mileage reimbursement for approved work-related travel
  • Consistent full-time work
  • Training and ongoing professional development
  • Career advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing solar company
  • Collaborative environment working directly with Installation, Electrical, Service, and Operations
  • Opportunity to directly improve first-time inspection pass rates and overall project quality
Why SpartanX?

A successful inspection starts before the inspector arrives.

Our Inspection Technicians are the final set of trained eyes on a project before approval. Your ability to catch deficiencies early, coordinate corrections, and ensure the project is truly inspection-ready helps prevent failed inspections, unnecessary return trips, and project delays.

If you know residential solar, have an exceptional eye for detail, and take pride in getting projects across the finish line the right way, we want to hear from you.

Solar Done Right.
