Laboratory Technician - Metals Lab
Job Description
This role involves handling samples in a metals laboratory, performing analytical testing, and reporting accurate and timely data in accordance with established Laboratory Operating Procedures and test methodologies. The position offers a clear growth path from laboratory technician to chemist and advanced chemist levels within a growing laboratory team.
Responsibilities
+ Handle and prepare laboratory samples in the metals lab following established procedures and safety guidelines.
+ Perform wet chemistry analyses, including pH measurements and other routine tests, in accordance with Laboratory Operating Procedures.
+ Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring instruments are calibrated, clean, and functioning properly.
+ Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner using approved test methodologies.
+ Follow detailed test methods and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and quality of data.
+ Document all work clearly and thoroughly to maintain traceable and compliant laboratory records.
+ Collaborate closely with team members to prioritize workloads and meet testing deadlines.
+ Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
+ Communicate any issues, anomalies, or equipment concerns promptly to appropriate team members.
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives by contributing ideas to enhance laboratory processes and efficiency.
Essential Skills
+ Associate or bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as chemistry, biology, or a related field.
+ Degree in sciences with foundational knowledge of laboratory practices and principles.
+ Ability to perform wet chemistry techniques, including pH measurements and pipetting.
+ Familiarity with general laboratory equipment and its proper use and care.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and reliable data.
+ Ability to follow written Laboratory Operating Procedures and test methodologies precisely.
+ Effective teamwork skills and a desire to work collaboratively rather than independently.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
+ Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting and discussing test results.
+ Willingness to learn new methods, technologies, and responsibilities as the lab grows.

+ No prior industry experience required; training is provided for candidates with the appropriate scientific education.
+ Interest in metals analysis and analytical chemistry within a laboratory setting.
+ Motivation to grow within the organization from laboratory technician to chemist and higher chemist levels.
+ Flexibility to adjust work hours within the standard schedule as needed (for example, 7:00-4:00 or 9:00-6:00).
+ Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude toward contributing to a growing team.
+ Comfort working in a structured environment with defined procedures and quality standards.
Work Environment
This is a full-time role in a metals laboratory operating Monday through Friday, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to shift hours (such as 7:00 a.m.
-4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.
-6:00 p.m.) based on operational needs. You will work in a professional lab setting that uses standard laboratory equipment and wet chemistry techniques, including pH measurement and pipetting. The laboratory is in a growth phase, expanding its team and workload, and offers a clear progression path from laboratory technician to chemist and advanced chemist levels. The environment emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, and adherence to established Laboratory Operating Procedures and test methodologies, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harrisburg, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
