Analytical Chemist
This role focuses on processing and analyzing a wide range of samples, including food, vitamins, cosmetics, and other materials, using ICP and related laboratory techniques. The chemist contributes directly to accurate analytical results that support a growing laboratory operation and collaborates closely with a team-oriented group of scientists and technicians.
Responsibilities- Process and analyze samples from various matrices such as food, vitamins, cosmetics, and related products using ICP instrumentation.
- Prepare samples for analysis using wet chemistry techniques, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and documentation.
- Operate and maintain ICP equipment, including performing routine calibrations, checks, and basic troubleshooting.
- Utilize mass spectrometry and other lab equipment as needed to support analytical testing and confirm results.
- Follow established laboratory methods, standard operating procedures, and quality control protocols to ensure accurate and reliable data.
- Record, interpret, and report analytical results clearly and accurately in laboratory information systems or other documentation tools.
- Work collaboratively with other chemists and laboratory staff to meet testing deadlines and support overall lab throughput.
- Adhere to laboratory safety guidelines and best practices when handling chemicals, samples, and equipment.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment, including proper storage of reagents and samples.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, enhance data quality, or improve instrument performance.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with ICP instrumentation in a laboratory setting.
- Practical experience in processing and analyzing samples using ICP for applications such as food, vitamins, cosmetics, or similar materials.
- Proficiency with general laboratory equipment and techniques, including sample preparation and handling.
- Experience with wet chemistry methods for preparing and analyzing samples.
- Exposure to or experience with mass spectrometry in an analytical laboratory environment.
- Strong chemistry knowledge and laboratory skills, including understanding of analytical methods and quality control principles.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and standard operating protocols accurately and consistently.
- Effective teamwork skills and a strong desire to work collaboratively rather than independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, reliable analytical results.
- Good communication skills to document findings and collaborate with colleagues.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a high-throughput analytical laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with handling diverse sample types such as food, vitamins, and cosmetics.
- Interest in contributing to a growing laboratory team and supporting increased testing volume.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assist in different areas of the lab as needed.
- Willingness to learn additional analytical techniques and instrumentation over time.
This position is based in a laboratory environment that is actively growing and expanding its testing capacity. The lab uses ICP, mass spectrometry, and a variety of standard lab equipment to analyze food, vitamins, cosmetics, and related products. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to work alternative hours such as 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. as needed to support workload and team coverage.
The role involves working on-site in a collaborative, team-focused setting where chemists and technicians support one another to meet testing deadlines and maintain high-quality analytical standards.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harrisburg, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $29.00 - $34.00/hr.
