POSITION OVERVIEW
Monitor legislative and regulatory development and trends at the state and local government levels that may impact the company. Partner with company leaders and teams to develop and execute strategies to advocate for the company's interests at the state and local levels. Build and maintain positive relationships with government officials, state and local agencies, key stakeholders and industry coalitions. Develop strategic responses and implement government relations programs to support corporate objectives and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Oversee the development and operation of the company political action committee (PAC).
- Monitor state and local legislative and regulatory activity relevant to the company's operations
- Track state and local legislative developments and provide timely updates and strategic counsel to leadership
- Develop and maintain relationships with key government officials, agencies and industry associations
- Coordinate and support the company in its interactions with state and local government entities and represent the company at public hearings, legislative sessions and industry forums
- Collaborate with legal, regulatory and operational teams to assess the impact of state and local legislative and policy changes and to draft policy briefs, position papers and legislative summaries for internal stakeholders
- Develop and implement strategies to influence public policy in alignment with corporate goals
- Advance the company's legislative, regulatory and political priorities
- Engage, direct and coordinate the efforts of outside state and local contract lobbying consultants
- Ensure compliance with lobbying disclosure and ethics regulations
- Develop and administer the company PAC, ensuring compliance with all federal and state campaign finance, tax and securities laws and regulations
- Collaborate with company leadership to develop and implement a fundraising strategy to provide for PAC revenues
- Manage and build PAC member participation and member retention, and create and implement PAC-related education and communication materials
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Business or related field. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements
- Seven (7) years of experience in government affairs, public policy or a related field
- Experience in PAC development, management and oversight, preferred
- Deep understanding of state and local legislative and regulatory processes
- Strong political acumen and strategic thinking
- Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills
- Proven ability to build bipartisan relationships and coalitions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Familiarity with and ability to ensure compliance with all lobbying disclosure and ethics rules
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage and prioritize competing demands and deliver results
- Demonstrated ability to manage a budget and ensure strong fiscal accountability
- Fast‑paced, deadline oriented
- Frequent travel required
This position will be domiciled at a Fed Ex Freight location in Memphis, TN or Harrison, AR. You will be required to work at a Fed Ex Freight location several times per week.
