Join North Arkansas Regional Medical Center (NARMC) as an Imaging Services Registered Nurse and play an essential role in caring for patients before, during, and after diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures. This position combines hands-on nursing care with collaboration across Radiology, Imaging, and other clinical teams in a supportive environment focused on safety, quality, and compassionate patient care.

The Imaging Services Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients receiving diagnostic and interventional imaging services. The RN performs comprehensive assessments, prepares patients for procedures, administers medications, provides patient education, monitors patients during and after procedures, and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition.

The Imaging Services RN works closely with radiologists, physicians, imaging technologists, and other healthcare professionals to support safe and efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and evaluate patients before, during, and after imaging procedures.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures and ensure they understand the planned procedure and necessary instructions.
  • Verify patient identity, clinical history, orders, and informed consent prior to procedures.
  • Administer and document medications in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provide nursing care appropriate for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Establish and maintain intravenous (IV) access and perform venipuncture as needed.
  • Monitor patients receiving procedural sedation and recognize changes in physical or mental status.
  • Assist physicians and licensed practitioners with interventional procedures.
  • Assist with procedures including myelography, arthrography, computed tomography (CT)-guided and fluoroscopy-guided biopsies, and other imaging procedures.
  • Support cardiac and vascular imaging services, including cardiac CT angiography (CTA), carotid CTA, and peripheral vascular CTA.
  • Assist with stress testing procedures, including Cardiolite, Persantine Cardiolite, and Dobutamine stress testing.
  • Provide appropriate interventions for adverse reactions and clinical emergencies, including allergic reactions, nausea, vomiting, fainting, bleeding, falls, and other patient events.
  • Apply appropriate infection prevention practices and sterile technique.
  • Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, education, medications, procedures, and charges accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate relevant patient information effectively with physicians, primary nurses, imaging staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Evaluate patient needs for continuity of care and communicate referral needs to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality improvement and performance improvement activities related to Imaging Services nursing.
  • Assist with orientation and education of new employees and students as requested.
  • Monitor supplies, maintain appropriate room stock, and report equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Follow hospital policies related to patient privacy, safety, compliance, infection prevention, and ethical conduct.
  • Work collaboratively with the Imaging Services team and other departments to support efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Job Qualifications Required
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arkansas.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Basic nursing skills and the ability to provide safe, age-appropriate patient care.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or eligibility to obtain.
  • Proficiency with IV access and venipuncture.
  • Ability to interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Preferred
  • Three to five years of current acute care, medical-surgical, critical care, or emergency department nursing experience.
  • Previous experience in radiology, diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology, procedural nursing, or conscious sedation.
  • Experience caring for patients undergoing CT, fluoroscopy, cardiac imaging, or interventional procedures.
